The grand pianos

In Pianoteq there are 3 built-in grand pianos to choose from, each with its own personality and strength. They all benefit from the Pianoteq physical model, bringing truly vivid, versatile and expressive instruments with rich resonances and amazing playability.

The K1 grand piano

Grand K1

As from version 3.6 of Pianoteq, we have expanded our collection of high class pianos by the addition of the magnificent K1 grand piano. This new instrument, produced in the Modartt virtual piano factory, combines stunning dynamics, sharp attacks and powerful fortissimos with a very nice woody percussive quality. Its natural clarity and elegance invite you to immediate improvisation. The exquisite subtlety of its tonal shading works beautifully in audio recording and make it suitable for all kinds of music.

The C3 grand piano

Grand C3

The C3 grand piano is a classic variant with a warm coloured sound, suitable for classical, romantic and lyrical music. Its distinct tonal quality shows its strenth in romantic and dreamy music by Chopin, Grieg and Debussy. In a mix, it brings the intimacy expected from an acoustic grand piano without dominating the other accompanying instruments.

The M3 grand piano

Grand M3

The M3 has a modern piano sound with an attack and presence that suit jazz and rock music where a close acoustic presence is preferred. It can also work well in pop/rock mixes and for dynamic classical works which require a more solid timbre.

Customize the piano sounds

Each grand piano instrument can have its sound changed to your own preference. A list of factory presets are provided with each instrument: player, recording, close mic, binaural... These are only a few among the infinitely many perspectives that you can create yourself by mic placements, parameter adjustments and mixing. Complete freedom in sound shaping is offered in Pianoteq Pro which lets you adjust each parameter for each of the 88 notes on your keyboard. Examples of sound adjustments created by Pianoteq users can be listened to and downloaded on the FXP Corner.
