Difference between "instrument" and "preset"
The Pianoteq physical model consists of a great number of parameters. A selection of the most important parameters is available for editing in the user interface in the standard and pro versions.
A specific model is defined for each instrument according to its properties. When only user interface parameters are changed, we say that it is still the same instrument but a different preset. Hence presets are understood as variations of a given instrument which can be defined by the user.
For example, C3 player and C3 ambience are both the same instrument, because the difference lies in the microphone position which can be defined by the user himself. On the contrary, C3 player and M3 player are two different instruments because it is impossible to obtain M3 player by modifying the user interface parameters of the C3 player.
